A couple of years ago husband and wife, Ingrid van Winckel and Jeff Craenen traded in Belgian traffic jams, pollution and stress for a very different life… a life in Bahia. They now live and work in the Atlantic rainforest close to the Rio Real river and ocean where they have built themselves a home.

After a fair deal of traveling they concluded that Brazil was the country of the future. Many things were taken into consideration before taking this big step. However, a lot of friends and acquaintances followed their example. Jeroen Bergmans for instance, a young and dynamic Belgian entrepreneur joined in and together they started up the building enterprise Inka-Lodge ltda. This organization is specialized in building villas and eco-casas, first-rate tasteful houses with western comfort.

The Fazenda Rio Real estate consists of 600 ha and borders the river Rio Real for about 5 kilometers. A few kilometers to the South the river reaches a strip of dunes and flows into the Atlantic Ocean close to Manque Seco. This region is known as one of Bahia’s prettiest pieces of nature.
